It’s difficult to say that where some children sleep is “sad” because that is the reality of the conditions they live in. They don’t think of it in the same terms and conditions we do. We as Americans have a particularly unique vantage point, wherein we think that it is “sad.” I imagine that even though these living conditions are tough, most of these children would consider themselves happy.
It is telling, however, when you see the “extravagance” of where some American children sleep set against the backdrop of where other children in the world sleep.
