On the night that Jesus was betrayed he took the bread and broke it and said “This is my body broken for you, do this in remembrance of me.” And in the same way he took the cup and said: “This cup is my blood shed for the forgiveness of sins, do this often, in remembrance of me.”

The first communion. The last supper with his disciples. The Eucharist. A Christian ordinance that has been practiced for almost 2,000 years. A way to remember Jesus’ sacrifice.

And then Jesus showed his disciples the full extent of his love. He took off his outer garment and with it he began to wash the feet of his disciples. Jesus then implored his disciples to follow his example to love and serve one another.

  1. A simple exercise, oft repeated, can be a powerful lesson for those who will be faithful disciples of Jesus. As done by Jesus, the word is: “This do in remembrance of ME.” AMEN
