This past weekend, over one hundred middle school students descended upon the Hayward Wesleyan Church for the Spring Lock-In.

I don’t know why they like doing this?!

In order to organizationally survive 10 hours with middle school students, one needs to have a comprehensive plan for the time allotted. Preferably there needs to be more activities planned that one has time for, which turned out to be good for us this time. We didn’t run out of things to do, but because of the number of students that attended, we had to not do certain activities that we had previously planned.

Here is the run-down of the events of the evening:

8:30-9:15
Doors open and students check-in

9:15-9:45
Setting the rules and expectations of the evening

Snacks and free time

10:15-11:30
Games in the Gym: NSEW (North, South, East, West) and Balloon Stomp
Game in the whole church: Hide and Seek

11:30-12:00
Snack and free time

12:00-1:15
Games in the Gym: 4 Corners and Dodgeball (Superball)

1:15-1:45
Snacks and free time

1:45-3:00
Games in the Theatre Room: Pizza Delivery, Ninja Feet, Bite the Bag, Man-Gun-Gorilla, Heads or Tails, and Dr. Fixie

3:00-3:30
Snacks and free time

3:30-4:30
Games in the Theatre Room: Shuffle Your Buns

4:30-6:00
Movie in the Theatre Room: The Adventures of Tin Tin

6:00-7:00
Zombie hour: free time, sleep, etc.
